If your computer has an AMD processor, you won't be able to install HAXM - HAXMis an Intel product and only works on Intel CPUs.

Google have worked with Microsoft to allow the x86 system images to work on Windows computers with an AMD processor.

This also allows you to use the emulators on Windows if you want to run Hyper-V. It isn't possible to have 2 hypervisors running at the same time, which meant you had to choose between Hyper-V (needed for things like Docker) and HAXM.

You can find Google's blog post about this, at https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2018/07/android-emulator-amd-processor-hyper-v.html

You will need to be running Windows 10, and you must keep it up to date with Windows Update. The Hypervisor Platform extensions were added in the April 2018 update.
