Because not all mobile applications will always be parsed by your forensic tools, you will often times find that applications need to be manually reviewed. The two posters created by certified SANS instructor, Mattia Epifani, which feature artifacts that exist on both the iOS and Android filesystems, can be invaluable resources when it comes to locating pertinent third-party application data on your devices.¹²

Also, keep in mind that it’s not just commercial tools that can parse third-party application data.

Third-party support for certain applications has been incorporated into both ALEAPP and ILEAPP and some other tools and free scripts as well.
